RSVP: Please fill out this form to register and receive the virtual meeting link Topic: Bipolar Blueprint: Strategies for Effective Psychological Practice This seminar will explore comprehensive strategies for assessing and treating bipolar disorder and include assessment tools for accurate diagnosis. Attendees will learn about integrated treatment approaches, from lifestyle interventions to evidence-based psychotherapy methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal and Social Rhythm Therapy (IPSRT). Special focus will be placed on tailoring treatment plans to individual patients, managing comorbid conditions, and identifying early warning signs for effective, long-term management of bipolar disorder. Guest Presenter: Vikas Gupta, MD Dr. Vikas Gupta is a former Harvard board-certified psychiatrist specializing in mental health care for children, adolescents, and adults, and he also holds a board certification in obesity medicine and community & public psychiatry. He is deeply committed to holistic, lifestyle-based interventions and actively incorporates innovative methods to enhance overall health outcomes. With broad expertise in bipolar disorder, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, Dr. Gupta currently serves as the Vice Chair of the American Psychiatric Association Scientific Program Committee for the APA Annual Meeting 2025 in Los Angeles this May. About the SMI SIG: This group will provide education and peer support related to the provision of care for individuals experiencing serious mental illness. We will host presentations and more informal research briefings by SMI experts, related to assessment and intervention recommendations from over 20+ years of longitudinal and cross-sectional clinical research through the UCLA Center for Assessment and Prevention of Prodromal States (CAPPS) and other collaborators. Community SIG members are invited to submit topics or presentations for upcoming meetings. LACPA Reminders: SIG meetings are open to all LACPA members. Non-members wishing to attend will need to join LACPA prior to the meeting.
