Please save the date for a presentation by Dr. Tara Shultz on Friday, June 5th, at 12 PM. She will present:

From Steps to Skills: A CBT Approach to Recovery

Learning Objectives:

  1. Explain the brain disease model of addiction and the historical evolution of addiction treatment, including the role of 12-step approaches
  2. Apply a CBT-informed framework to the case conceptualization of substance use disorders
  3. Demonstrate evidence-based CBT interventions that complement and enhance 12-step recovery in clinical practice

Tara Shultz, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in addiction. She completed her internship and postdoctoral training at Tarzana Treatment Centers, where she gained experience across multiple levels of substance use treatment. She currently teaches in the PsyD program at Mount Saint Mary’s University and provides professional training on addiction. In addition, she maintains a private practice working with individuals with substance use and co-occurring disorders.
