Anna Pirkl is a California Licensed Marital and Fa mily Therapist, Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and American Art Therapy Association registered Art Therapist. She specializes in recove ry from addiction, complex trauma, and anxiety disorders. Anna likes to use a variety of therapeutic tools, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavio ral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She has worke d with a wide variety of populations from adolescents at Central Juvenile H all, Westchester high school, Thomas Riley high school, to general mental h ealth conditions at Airport Marina Counseling Center, to home visits with e lderly and disabled at Beach Cities Health District and now in private prac tice at One Heart Counseling Service. Anna earned her Pink Belt in the Grac ie Jiu-Jitsu Women Empowered Program in Torrance, CA, and went on to earn h er Combatives Belt and Blue Belt and continues to train in the master cycle of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Anna has a passion for helping clients break through fear. She has helped people swim that had fear of water, helped a person wi th a phobia of bees visit a bee rescuer and her hives and regularly helps t rauma survivors with a fear of Jiu-Jitsu find their ability to get on the m at and train. Another passion of hers’ is elevating the voices of children through social action and psycho-political therapies and compassion buildin g (anti-bullying) events. In addition to her clinical work, she is a speake r and researcher with a long resume of talking engagements and now research on the impact of jiu-jitsu.
