Hi all, I extend to you an invitation to join us for a presentation titled "Leadership in Star Trek: The Basic Skills Are Clinical Skills," an event that promises to be as adventurous as it is enlightening. Hosted by the Sport Performance Psychology (SIG), this presentation will feature insights from renowned scholars Drs. Jason A. Kaufman and Aaron M. Peterson co-authors of "Leadership in Star Trek: Lessons from the Captain's Chair." Together, we will journey through the stars, exploring how leadership principles from the Star Trek universe intersect with clinical expertise. Join us on Saturday, June 1st at 12 pm via Google Meet, where we will boldly go where no leadership discourse has gone before. As Captain Jean-Luc Picard once said, "Things are only impossible until they're not." Let us uncover the possible in leadership, drawing wisdom from our favorite Starfleet captains. Jason A. Kaufman, Ph.D., Ed.D., is a professor of educational leadership and director of the institutional review board at Minnesota State University, Mankato and a licensed psychologist. His teaching uses a lean and lab-rich approach to promote scientific thinking. His research explores mind-body and nature-based interventions, humble leadership, and the promotion of human functioning. He is a co-author of Leadership in Star Trek: Lessons from the Captain's Chair and the upcoming Humble Leadership: Lessons from Captain Pike. He co-hosts the podcast Dice in Mind. Aaron M. Peterson, Ed.D., is an assistant professor of leadership at Converse University. His research agenda focuses primarily on the process of conflict engagement in higher education as well as other sectors. He also explores leadership best practices in higher education and other arenas. This latter focus has really come into better focus, as he is a co-author of Leadership in Star Trek: Lessons from the Captain's Chair and the upcoming Humble Leadership: Lessons from Captain Pike. "The opinions of presenters at informal forums, such as Special Interest Groups (SIGs) or club meetings, and their approach to psychological issues and interventions do not represent a formal endorsement of any position by the Los Angeles County Psychological Association or its members. The opinions, ideas, and concepts expressed are purely those of the presenter." Contact: [email protected] |
