... My LACPA journey has been a stimulating one. I have had the opportunity to learn from and work with people who are leaders in their disciplines, I have had the opportunity to create positive change, and I have had lots of fun in the process. It is my hope to be able to inspire, encourage, and motivate you in meaningful ways during my time as President. I hope to make myself available to you, and I hope that we will be able to share at least one laugh together. LACPA is an important professional organization that has just celebrated its eightieth birthday. Eighty years: That is no small feat. This means that for the past 80 years, clinicians, researchers, academics, graduate students, affiliate members, and our dedicated office staff have joined this special organization. For the past eighty years, LACPA leaders have given their time, wisdom, and expertise to this organization.

For anyone who has ever served on the Executive Committee, chaired a committee, led a Special Interest Group, attended Convention, attended a continuing education event, attended a professional development event, or assisted with an event behind the scenes. I thank you. Your time has been appreciated; your energy has been appreciated;
and you have been appreciated. An organization does not get the opportunity to celebrate 80 years without the devoted commitment of a strong village. It is this sentiment that serves as the basis for my presidential theme: Rooted and Rising. As we lay the foundation and strengthen our infrastructure to ensure LACPA’s ability to serve its members for another 80 years, I hope to help us honor the past leaders who have gotten us this far, while embracing future leaders to whom various batons will get passed.
LACPA Family, I see you, and I appreciate you!
